Why do Tulips grow after being cut?
Tulips are beautiful flowers with lots of character and elegance. Cut Tulips will continue to grow in the vase because they have the ability to absorb water through their stems. As long as they have access to water, they can continue to grow and develop. This is because Tulips have a special type of tissue called Xylem in their stems, which is usually responsible for transporting water and nutrients from the roots to the rest of the plant.
When Tulips are cut, their stems are no longer connected to the roots and cannot absorb nutrients from the soil. However, they can still absorb water through their stems and use it to continue growing. This causes the stems to stretch and elongate. It will also help the flowers to open.
It's important to note that while cut Tulips can continue to grow in a vase, they will eventually wilt because they don't have access to the nutrients they need to sustain themselves over the long term. Regularly changing the water and cutting the stems at an angle can help prolong the life of the flower and will keep the Tulips looking fresh.
